Background Information: Quick, random, and inspired by canine beasts of mythology such as Cerberus. =)

Name: McGilly, Gilly for short. Thus, this poem is (c) Gilly/McGilly

    Setting:
It can apply to really any timeline.

    Genre:
A kind of generic historical fiction, maybe drama.

    Dogs of War

The paws that tread the smoking night
Tinged with red, eyes glinting, alight
    Through trench and over mountain
Water falling from the sky, a miserable fountain
Dripping lamely off a sleek pelt
Black and brown, ragged, but almost like felt
    Scarred madly upon their hides
    Yet still their handlers' pride
Ears pricked to the sound of danger
    And other things much stranger

Metal and flesh, dirt and bone
    Upon the enemy they hone
Cerberus would be proud of what they have become
The dogs of war, let slip so that the conflict is won.
