   I wrote a blog about this a while ago.
   I once spend a weekend on this island and was completely unaware of this battle which ensued here between Georgian and German Wehrmacht soldiers, it actually went on til 2 weeks after the official end of WW2 in Europe.

   Good story. There was much fighting still going on after VE Day. I'm not sure if this was the last battle in Europe, but read Jones' After Hitler for information about the continuing war after May 9.
