You will have to forgive me I am relatively new here. I Googled sheep gun and that is what popped up. In that case is it British ingenuity which we can thank for shooting a moose with a sheep??!!! A Woo-lee Enfield perhaps!

VF-11 "Sun Downers", the fighter squadron in which my father flew in the Solomon Islands in the summer of 1943. Shot down 2 A6M2s on 12 June 1943 which made him an ace, having previously shot down 2 F1M1s near Guadalcanal on 4 May 1942, a B5N2 at Coral Sea on 8 May 1942 and another B5N2 at Midway on 4 June 1942. This particular representation of the squadron insignia is a crop of a photo of the actual side panel from the F4F he flew which is in my possession. He and Charlie Stimpson were the designers of this squadron insignia.

Canada is closed - after 6pm and Sundays. And you'll have to state the nature of yer business, then we'll check ur bank account to ensure you have enough to buy everyone coffee and doughnuts for the duration of yer trip. Otherwise, take off eh. Hoseheads.

Yes on both accounts, Fiddy. ..How does a guy who worked "full time" all his life, know every single movie ever produced- are you Rainman like or Forrest like? Ima little of both minus their good qualities.

Elwood. Good connection mate. Buford T was another good one. Loved Jackie Gleeson. Maybe Fiddy was also present during the "Convoy" glory days.

Nope. I worked nights for 22 of my 30 years on the job. Lots of nights off after the bars closed were spent watching movies because I couldn't sleep. Now that they invented imdb and Netflix things got a lot easier. But thanks for the compliments you hosers....

Yep and he gave me one of his official-looking bidness cards when I spent time with him a while back. It has gotten me out of several tickets so far. Your fame is spread far and wide.

    An Edelweiss pin.

For an unknown reason, mountain troops/battles fascinate me.

I don't know why I picked this avatar. I'm sure I wrote a note about it, it's probably in there somewhere.

When I was in the Army in Alaska I got into a fight with some MPs. Does that count?

This thread is a little old, but I thought I'd explain my avatar. It's the insignia of the 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, an element of the 4th MarDiv and the big Marine Reserve unit in Texas. I'm planning on enlisting in the Marine Corps upon completion of school and, given that I live in Texas, this would probably be my Reserve assignment. I've also met and became friends with a Marine in the battalion, SSgt Luis Lopez of Alpha Co, who gave me some great advice on joining up.

This is my favorite comic strip character, Terry Downe of Love and Rockets.

    Don't mess with her.

Private Pluto. Classic cartoon when I was a kid. And I guess, having kids now, I have a softer side :)
