She was actually an advanced design for her time.

For some reason I've always liked the twin engine fighters. P-38 is my favorite of the bunch though.

WWII really moved aviation from the wood and fabric biplanes to the jet age in just 6 years. I have many favorites but over all German designs really pushed the limits for other nations to follow. Before the war started I read in old magizanes that France and Italy had the highest rated airforces and pilots.

If I picked just one aircraft I would go with the Ta-152 since it looks like a weapon where as the the Spitfire looks too pretty to be a weapon in a war.

Has been all of my life, the P-51D.

It's just a purdy plane to me.

The F4U Corsair is a close second.

I have always been fond of the Focke-Wulf 190, a great all around fighter.

    The Spitfire is my favourite.

Such a beautiful looking and sounding machine, it sends a shiver down my spine to hear the purr of a Merlin engine during flypasts at airshows.

I hate to say it, but the C-47. A beauty of function. If you want combat planes, it would be the P51D, and B17G. And I have always had a fondness for the A-20.
