I like the Hellfire for it's deadliness against armoured targets, Tomahawk for range (despite thet posibility of longer ranges cruise missiles) adn to my knowlegde the AIM-9 is a good all-round AA missile.

I don't like missiles as tactical weapons. Even in this modern age they remain fairly inaccurate, sometimes unreliable, and maddeningly expensive. The return of all modern jets to a high-velocity cannon as secondary armament says a lot about the real effectiveness of rockets.

ICBMs and other types of strategic missiles make much more sense.

I haven't heard of a Trident III, I thought they stopped at TII. You sure you don't mean Minuteman III?

Storm Shadow is a great stand-off penetrator missile with some great features built in such as automatic mission abort parameters and secondary targeting. Yes tactical cruise missiles are expensive but not relatively so when viewed in relation to the alternatives ie. a force package consisting of over 20 aircraft - bombers, anti-radar, ECM, fighters, refuelers, command and control etc or alternatively the very expensive stealth bombers - add to these the risk to highly valuable personnel. Looked at like that, this particular category of missile actually looks like a bargain. These points apply other tactical cruise missiles too, of course, I'm just particularly impressed by Storm Shadow.

That's my fault, I mentioned Trident III's in the
'Older Missiles' thread. I think they continue with the III's but I could be wrong....

Well, the Minuteman III is my favourite of the Minuteman family, but Siberian mentioned Trident III on the Older Misiiles thread.
