I have a few tapes from that show. Indeed, as the story goes, it is the YAMATO redesigned to go into space and battle the evil aliens.

Yep. This was years before a team actually found the wreck of YAMATO and photographed it, of course; no way for it to be used for anything. It was still a very cool looking spaceship, though; one of my favorites.

The old X wing had the look but comments on it performance did seem to summarise to:
    "I'm hit! Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......."

Yeah you probably would have been better off making offensive comments about his Mum rather than bad mouth Star Wars ;) :D :D

Before I get accused of provoking Danyel again, I'd like to point out that I am firmly in the Imperial camp, and that PMN1's link smacks of Starfleet propaganda to me!

Anyone out there played the old "Wing Commander" Games? I always liked the old TCS Tiger's Claw and personally preferred the look of it to the Concordia or WC2.

I think the best ship of all time though has to be Starbug, especially the post-series 6 one with added laser cannon.

On the subject of ships that suck, I'm surprised none of the Brits in this forum have mentioned the truely terrible "Blake's 7" ship, for those who haven't seen it if memory serves me right it looked like 3 washing up liquid bottles attached together with cones on the noses and sprayed gold, which is exactly what they made it out of...

    Excalibur

The designers of babylon 5's Excalibur had a look and saw that it was good (with a few changes)

    :D

Just while we're on the subject anyone got any thoughts on the new Battlestar Galactica?

Personally I do have one thought. The new (computer generated) Cylon warriors are hopeless. They managed to put into one package something that looks both lumbering and flimsy. I think the old style Cylon warrior (guy in shiny suit) would kick the snot out of them anytime.

Someone mentioned the old Wing Commander games, I would agree they had some nice designs. Which makes the Wing Commander film the (dis)graced the silver screen a few years back all the more surprising since it had the more crappy ships and fighters I've ever seen.

David, the best Thunderbird is Thunderbird 2, driven by the almighty Virgil. Here is a picture of the Ragnarok.

S.O.E The Ragnarok does indeed look cool.

Thunderbird 2 however is just butt ugly. Reminds me of a pregnant frog that's been a bit squashed flat.

B.T.W Ragna Rok in Norse Mythology is the site of the last battle, between the Gods & the Giants.
