    Lukas Hampstam sat in his foxhloe,freezing to the bone.He and his company had just returned,defeated by the Russians in an ambush.2 men in his company had been killed.Lukas hadn't known them to well,but he knew German lives couldn't be spared.The Germans were near defeat,he had to except that fact.


    Lukas could not sleep.The fact that the Russians could launch another ambush kept him and most of his company on edge.He was truly scared. He had thought about deserting,but he had seen first hand what deserters got. His stomach churned at the terrible memory.Lukas had tried as hard as he could to block it,but it just wouldn't leave.It was like a ghost that haunted him everywhere he went,it would never leave him.
