I know that he didn't left many papers or documents when he died.
But still, i find him to be a very intriguing character, and the only thing i find exclusively on him is Steven Newton's "Hitler's Commander: Field Marshal Walther Model, Hitler's Favorite General".
I'm sure there are probably more books in german, but my german is kind of rubish so i'll have to settle for english.
Is there anymore books on Model?? And if not is Newton's book a hit or a miss?

I ordered the Model book on Amazon about a month ago but this week I received an email from them saying that they had cancelled the order as they were still waiting to receive copies and didn't know how long it would be.

Well i noticed that the book was temporarily out of stock on amazon, and the new and used one is from the states and only sells to england i guess.
Look in thebookdepository you may find it there, at least i ordered it 3 or 4 hours ago and so far so good...

No, I think that was one of the reasons they cancelled the order after a month or so.

Well, there is a biographical article on him by Carlo d'Este at Hitler's Generals, book edited by Corelli Barnett.

Thanks for that, L-Raiser...by coincidence I am just now reading Stein's book about Manstein. I'll watch out for the Model one with interest.....

Yes, I find Model a very interesting, indeed, fascinating, and intriguing subject, too. I shall follow this thread to see if any more literature on this enigmatic figure is put in print. Nov. 2nd, 2009
