Some of the many bits of kit to be seen around Normandy.. Centaur Tank and memorial plaque at Pegasus Bridge A Stuart tank and an 88mm gun at Ouistreham The first of many Sherman tanks, this one is at Utah Beach The following are all at the fabulous Airborne museum at Sainte-Mere-Eglise. I quite liked the instructions in the windscreen of the truck to drivers.
The DD Sherman at Courseulles-sur-Mer. Unfortunately, the propellers have been removed. It's latest crew couldn't understand what all the fuss was about! Immediately across the road was this German PAK Gun. Note the damage to the shield..
An AVRE fitted with a Petard at Graye-sur-Mer just off Juno Beach This Sexton of 50th Div. is on a roundabout at Ver-Sur-Mer just behind Gold Beach Various Artillery Pieces, A Bofors that was on the Mulberry Harbour and another Sherman at Arromanches
And finally at Bayeaux, another Sherman, an M10 Tank Destroyer, A Churchill Crocodile without the trailer and the only German Armour I saw in Normandy, A Jagdpanzer 38 'Hetzer'.
Thanks for posting the pics, Jonathan : I've always wanted to see that AVRE but have never got around to it......
Ah! So you have never visited the Vimoutiers Tiger then? It's a 'must visit' when in Normandy. Great photos, BTW.
I don't know how I missed these pictures. Great shots for both of you. It's always nice to see these photos.
