This is another book in the stripe of the History of ww2 . It has a c. 1948 so it is filled with letters from the principal leaders of ww2 as endorsements of its value in understanding the recently over conflict its also loaded with pix and not the same old file photos we usually see, I stumbled across this one at a second hand store for cheap. some juvenile did a lot of scribbling in pencil on many pages but I cleaned it up and now it is a proud addition to my war library.
This is indeed a good book - and a classic about the USMC in the war. I especially like the dramatic painting in the center (and dust jacket). If you like this one, you should also get the similar histories for the other Marine divisions that were all published in the years following the war. They vary in price (you can find some bargains on eBay; I've seen the 5th Division history go for under $40) but are worth having for their documentation of each division's participation in the island-hopping campaign.
