Yes I see F1 alot, and its about the only sport's event i watch. Did anyone see the battle between De la Rosa's McLaren and Heidfield's BMW Williams today ? Extreemly exciting ! KBO
I try to see every race on television, and I must say i'm suprised by Renault, they kick everybodies ass, and i'm really disapointed with Ferrari, especially Michael Schumacher, hopefully he can make up the bad races when the new car is done.
I like f-1 because it's not american , with nascar people just show up to see cars crash , and plus they go around in a n oval , which is boring , but with F-1 the track is more complex and every track is different. theres a lot more variety, and plus F-1 fans show up to see a good race , and there absolutely fanatical (especially ferrari fans).
i dont like f1.. pah :bang: why dont they put them all in the same car and see who is the best driver then it would be worth watching.... otherwise it is dull dull dull!!!
well if u take schumacher out of his ferrari and put him a jordan 4 example is he going to be world champion... of course not! they dont drive the same spec car capable of the same performance and handling those driving the better cars are goin to be champions year after year. look at schumacher the last few years best driver (most probably) in the best car.. result he wins the championship year after year at a canter!
My thought about the race. McLaren would be on the top 3 if Raikkonen wouldent have problems. Wurz was driving good and 4th palace is very good. Renault is very strong this year. Ferrari is coming back. Anyone here a McLaren fan?
Formula 1 is a team sport(like every racing series is). It's not that much about who's the best driver but about which team works best together(drivers, engineers, race strategists.....) The same as in football it's not about who's the best striker, or the best keeper but which team as a whole is the best.
When I was in school in the 60s, I followed F1 in its 'Golden Age' with drivers like Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Jack Brabham, and Lorenzo Bandini ... ah, those were the days. So I was thrilled when Sierra released their racing sim "Grand Prix Legends" in 97. If you like PC racing, I highly recommend this game (it's still available), and there are lots of mods available for cars and courses. It was designed for Glide, so an old Voodoo2 card is all you need - does not require a top-of-the line machine to run on.
I have never liked the idea of one tire offering in a racing series. Goodyear muscled Hoosier out of NASCAR and now everbody there is stuck with what Goodyear shows up with. I bet the folks in the stands at Indy were REALLY pissed!
And they had every right to be pissed. Here's what happened in my opinion: Michelin tires weren't safe enough (they might explode at high speed oval corner) so Michelin denied teams racing with those tires. And regulations prohibit any tirechanges bethween qualifying and GP and they also prohibit tirechanges during GP unless tire is damaged. This has caused some dangerous situations earlier too. For sunday Michelin brought new sets of tires to all its teams but FIA denied their use as regulations prohibit tirechanges. There was apparently various different proposations from Michelin and its teams to FIA; time penalty, extra lap for michelin-teams, positions 7-20 after qualifying for michelin-teams if they are allowed to use those new tires, chicane to that oval-corner etc... but FIA said "no" to all of these so Michelin had only one safe option left: Deny its teams using their tires at indianapolis. What I'm questioning here is FIA: Michelin made a mistake, admitted it and tried all they could do to make this race happen properly but FIA didn't allow them to do it. Why? What happened now was bad for teams, bad for FIA, bad for Indianapolis GP and bad for whole sport.
Well, I found a picture from times when F1-drivers were drivers and not those smileboys they are today
