Hey all, I was in a Goodwill this past weekend (during Halloween season) and found a Soviet dress hat. I did what little research I could from my phone while there, but figured I'd scour the internet and see if anyone knew anything that might help. The little research I've been able to dig up suggests that it may be an infantry officer's hat (based on the olive fabric, red brim, and gold cords), but that's about all I've been able to find so far. I'd love to know if anyone has any info or even a link to a site that might be able to help!
Post war officer cap , I believe 88 is the date (1988) and 56 the size. The golden rim means officer rank. These are extremely common at military surpluses .
Wow that was fast, thanks! I had a feeling it wasn't very old given its condition, but still a random/interesting thing to find on a Goodwill trip
Glad I could help, Soviet, Polish and DDR relics can be found for dirt cheap prices. Warwaw Pact helmets sell for 10 euros a piece, cpas for about 20, You can get complete uniforms for a less than 50. They are interesting for reenactors , theatres etc... but not really for collectors , but one day Cold war relics may be popular too.
