I just got this Tiger I , very acurate model, impressive in size & detail , awesome paintjob , metal tracks are very heavy and look just like the real thing ! The toolbox and fire-extinguisher should be repainted and the MG/radio operators and drivers exit hatch need a periscope but all of that can easily be fixed, other than that i rate this model A+, here are some pics !!!
They're great models, aren't they ? Santa Claus brought me the 'Wittmann's Last Battle' one.... I love it !
They are awesome, so much detail, paintjob, heavy realistic tracks, weathering, wish they launch an early Tiger I and a mid production Tiger as well, i do have a 1/16 early and mid production Tiger but i would like the heavy ones
IMPO the weathering is particularly neat - somehow, FOV have contrived to make the finish look oily/dusty/muddy at the same time - certainly, the result would be beyond my very limited modelling talents....
...how about this paintjob, i think it is awesome, not my tank, just a pic i downloaded , 1/16 Tamiya early Tiger I , whoever did the paintjob, did it very well, do you agree
This is a wartime pic of the actual " 222 " Tiger I that Wittmann borowed and carnaged all that british armor in Villers Bocage
Actually, thinking this over, by discussing whether the FOV or Minichamps or Dragon or 21st Century Tigers are better or worse, or whether they're made of plastic or metal, or if all the FOV details are right - rather misses the point for me. Take the famous 'Vimoutiers Tiger', for instance.... When you see it sitting on that Normandy hillside, it looks big, squat, ugly, heavy, menacing but undoubtedly purposeful . Despite many parts being missing, and being painted in a stupid colour scheme, just looking at this tank gives you a real feel for the 'Tiger Legend'. And somehow, for me, the FOV 1/16 Tiger comes closest to capturing that look and 'feel'. Maybe it's the scale, or the finish, or the weight - I don't know. All the others in different scales are fine models, but for me the FOV Tiger has that indefinable 'something extra'. I can't own a real one ( sadly !) , but until I can the FOV Tiger will have to do. And THAT'S why I love it....
I like the the FOV 1/16 Tiger tank , but it the price that does it for me I just think at that price the hull should be die-cast , the down side to that would be the extra cost of shipping I think the FOV 1/16 king Tiger hull were die-cast I will get a 007 Tiger , but it will be at the right price Thx Martin
The £/$ exchange rate would make that a cheap model over here, but the shipping would probably 'kill' the deal.....
