OK, guys. Here is the new one. Continued from here:

    Free Military Quiz

I'm moving the this quiz to the Free Fire zone, it fits in better there.

The old thread comprised 301 posts, we'll keep track to see how many we get total.

As always the rules are as follows: To earn the right to pose a question, you must be the first to answer the current question correctly. You must however wait for confirmation that you are correct before you can ask your question.

And it is Panzerknacker's turn! ;)

    Excellent-Well, my question stands.
In the Vietnam War, how was the rank of NVA officers denoted in the field?

(NOTE: Carl is correct about rank insignia, but in the field, rank was not worn and was instead denoted by something)

The only thing I know about this is that US troops assumed that anyone with a leather belt was an officer.

Redcoat there are two quizes on the Forums, the "Free Military Quiz" open to any military subject and currently on part II is one of them. The other is over in the General Discussion Area under the title "Quiz", it is currently on part four and open to only WWII trivia.

    NO, NO, and NO.
Sorry, it isn't the usual symbol of an officer believe me.
24 hours and I will give the answer and a new question if no correct answer is forthcoming before then.

    The Italian Navy

After a fairly inconclusive daylight battle against the Italian fleet, the British battlefleet caught the Italian heavy cruisers, Zara, Fiume, and Pola by surprise at night, and along with two large Italian destroyers sank them all
The Italians lost 5 warships and over 2,400 officers and men.
The cost to the RN was, 1 Swordfish Torpedo-bomber and crew.

Spot on Redcoat-with the British losses at 1 Swordfish bomber and crew, I also believe it was one of the Fleet Air Arm's greatest hours as well.

    Over to you Red...
