    Too bad they did not keep the thing operational for when the Germans came back in WWII.

    with them raining down....:panic:

    Though oddly not the thrower of the western front's heaviest shell.e

    That honour belongs to the to 18"/40 Mk.1 mounted on the monitor General Wolfe, which delivered 81nr. 3320lb :eek: shells onto an Ostend rail bridge at a range of 36,000yds. Not only the heaviest shell but also the longest range of at which the RN ever engaged a (rather sedentary...) target.
