French Girls Letters To Teacher Before Auschwitz

I found this quite a moving documentary on France24 news channel about letters discovered at a French school written by Louise Pikovsky who later went on to die in the concentration camp. The teacher she wrote to must have been tortured with "what if". Had Louise accepted her offer to stay the night, she may have had a completely different life.

It was 1944, and they still didn't know about the Holocaust.
I don't usually blame the Allies, that they did nothing to stop it, but here I think some people should have paid for the fact that so many Europeans didn't know even then.
At that time the Holocaust was old news, but nobody bothered to warn Europe.
