This thread has been solely created for the honour of the grand day known as friday. This is (in most cases) the last working day of the week, and the time when I get to stay up late and not worry about work, sleep in and pretty much do what I want to do. So what am I doing this weekend? Well I was going to mow the lawn but since it is still very wet I can't, damn, of well I was looking forward to that. Anyone else want to share?
well robert! wife's away visiting her sister in torquay, and for me! will spend the weekend looking after sick mother in law, watch footie, horse racing too, generally fit in some r & r wherever poss, overall peaceful...ray..
unfortunately, I always work weekends. I work the late shift at a Casino so for weekends off high senority is necessary. Maybe in 10-20 years or so.. My Friday's are Sunday.. so Monday and Tuesdays off are my time to get things done and spend more time with you guys!
Let's see back to work on Monday after sick leave since Mid December, so up late Thursday for last time. Get stuff ready for Monday and do some of things I'd hope to do the past week, like paint - I've discovered having a combination studio and office means the computer distracts me a lot!
I would like to watch the 3 ft of snow melt this weekend! Temps in the 55 F range so maybe! Otherwise, I plan to filed strip my SIG-556 and "clean" it. (It hasn't been fired). My buds at work plan on going to the range and if the "honey do" list isnt too long, I'll work on getting accustomed to the new rifle with a couple of hundred rounds! And I am buying my instructors Walther PPS pistol so I can use the indoor range too!
Which reminds me...Pc plod was supposed to visit to see if another englander can have a firearm today...He aint been and my new gun cabinet is looking kinda shiningly new but empty...Mr.Fox survives yet another night.
I only get every third weekend off now...this was my weekend off until they changed the schedule. Now I am working 6 days and off 1 work 4 off 1, lame. I WAS going to look at picking up a bird gun...that'll have to wait until next week.
Now that I'm retired, every night is Friday night and every day is Saturday. If the temps warm a bit, I need to cut up a large tree limb that fell in the last storm, but I try not to plan any further ahead than this afternoon.
Nice Lou! Since someone directly coughed in my face yesterday, yes I felt the spray and almost chucked! I'[ll be sitting at home watching movies and trying to stay warm and get better! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
Oh I found out tonight I get to go to work at 5am tomorrow. Instead of having Saturday off I get to get up and go to work just when I'm usually calling it a night. Win.
I never looked forward to Friday at anytime I can remember, with the possible exception of the time I was in high school my last three years. Then I played football on Sat., and during basketball season we had either a Fri. or Sat. night game. Looked forward to those games, but never worked for a 9 to 5'er job on a five day/week basis. Farming/ranching? 24/7 with the exception of "time in school". Out of school? 24/7 for the most part, 12 months a year. Now I'm "run hard and put up wet" by 60 too many times, and considered 90+% disabled. So now every day is pretty much the same as the next unless it is NASCAR or NFL season! Then I look forward to the week-end, but not Friday because it is Friday.
Much like Lou, everyday is Saturday for me. But that doesn't mean nothing to do. Like today. We needed to go to town and pick up something for my wife. So, into Bigfork (pop. 469), pay electric bill then stop at grocery store and find out they don't carry what she needed. Head North 7 miles to Effie (pop. 91), check out new gas station/convenience/liquor store and still can't find it. Mailed letter since the gas station/convenience/liquor store also doubles (quadruples?) as the Post Office. Head South back to Bigfork and decided to go another 14 miles to Marcell (pop. 394), look at new fish-finders for icefishing, can't afford one, help wife look around store and not finding what she needs head back North to Bigfork. Forgot to get some cash for tomorrow's Rummage sale being held here in the Community Center. The $5.00 in my pocket wouldn't go very far, then again it may go far enough. Stop at bank, get money and after driving nearly 70 miles she still hasn't found her nail polish! Stop at my Sister's house, wife applies borrowed nail-polish, we discuss sister's work environment, give sister a sympathetic ear for an hour and a half. Return back to the house. Hear motor noises in the woods, take snowmobile to see who's trespassing, find no one there. Log on to WW2f and take some dumb quiz. After viewing my results to quiz decide to spend the next few hours taking multiple personality tests. I mean multiple tests to show personality. Took Rorschach test and failed. Tomorrow looks to be about as busy. Hey you asked.
Well tomorrow I am going to my uncles wedding. Usually friday nights i like to go to an improv comedy club with my brother and his fiance, stay out til about 1am then saturdays wake up about noon maybe read other times cleaning, unpacking. Now that baseball seasons almost back saturdays will be the days usually when i head to the games.
Sitting down finishing off "A Midnight Clear" and trying not to worry to much about my father, who went to the hospital today after having chest pains; and hes being kept for the weekend for a stress test. I'm going tomorrow morning to see him at least. Not much of a fun weekend to look forward too....
Well, how quickly things change..My MIL is back in the hospital in Boston, and a priest has been called. My wife and son are driving up early tomorrow. I'm to stay since my son has to be back in college on Tuesday and I'll probably have to meet him at the airport. Prayers greatly appreciated.
What Lou, no snow shovelling detail this weekend? I am working this weekend, 4:30P-4:30A, so it's work, go home, go to bed, get up, go back to work, start over. Blah. Now, next weekend is different. On Fridays during the Lenten Season, I usually celebrate by going down to the local watering hole, and ordering the Baptist Lenten Special, a 26 oz ribeye with baked potato and salad and about 10, 12 maybe 15 beers or so for dessert. Then on Saturday our St. Patrick's Day parade rolls, and that makes for a loooong weekend.... On Sunday I go visit the folks.
