All sources have a bias, but the extent of the bias may vary in direction and intensity.

The British Army used to have a list of newspapers that candidates for regular army selection were recommended to read to broaden their understanding of current affairs. These were the quality broadsheets: The Times, Torygraph and Grauniad and the Economist.

The Daily Mail, Express, Sun, Star and Mirror were not deemed as worthy reading material for young officers. In fact the lines book of the 18/18th Hussars included a fine for an subaltern on the grounds that "Lt X was seen to be reading the Sun and that his lips were moving as he did."

Just as one might treat with suspicion articles published by Pravda or the Volkisher Beobachter, one might be sceptical of the independence of editorial views in media owned by offshore based media moguls with a big interest bein g big players in small countries.

I trust Anthony Hilton in the London Evening Standard because I have met him, participated in his city lunchtime events and how much work he does to research the impact of events on London and the UK.

The irony of a bunch of offshore based tax dodgers telling us not to be told what to do by foreigners seems lost on some people.....

Yeah, because statements like "I wouldn't wipe my arse with the Daily Express either" are wonderfully neutral.
I've often posted links from papers and sources completely at odds with my own politics, and usually without adding any snide political comments. The article's supposed to be the focal point, not my opinion of the author's politics.

Branson doesn't live here, but saw fit to lecture us on EU membership. Ditto for John Oliver. Geldof- another Remoaner- has just made the headlines for slagging off his own fans at a music festival because they weren't wearing designer togs like him and his mates that have never had a real job.-

Well, you've been wonderfully neutral too. It happens.

Well, even a saint would have lost patience at some of the BS in this thread, so tough luck.

    Tough luck, indeed.

We're all less than saint-like. Usually, that is.

    ;)

I forget where, but I read somewhere that a likely candidate date for invoking Article 50 was 1st January, 2017, which would make for a tidy date budget-wise for Britain to extricate (31st December 2018). (European budget follows the calendar year).

How little you must have to occupy your time.
You obviously missed the bit where I said-

Note the distinct lack of any claim to never add any snide political comments.
I think we can safely say this thread is dead.

Much less time than you, apparently. You of nearly 17.000 posts :)

Hardly missed that at all. Notice I said:

    "Usually, that is."

Indeed it has and rather than being forced to impose cooler time on some very respected members who normally display better decorum this dead horse is off to the glue factory.
