this I am happy to mention due to the fact I have had the letter some 12 years now. an 8 page piece of history from friend and ace Ernst Scheufele of IV./JG 4 during the dreaded battels of the Ardenne 1944. I sent the pages off to Neil Page in 2004 and he has been gracious enough and with a small bit of time to translate them and put them up on our site: http://members.aol.com/kaczmarek190/scheufele.html again this is only a small snippet of a very interesting account by Ernst. He was shot down in Black 2 not his normal machine. Erich ~
Good stuff Erich I was wondering what model of the 109 he was talking about when he said "the latest, light-weight, unarmored version of the Bf 109". I noticed in the picture the aircraft still had armor for the pilot's headrest. Did they delete everything else ?
Bf 109G-14/AS which was his black 14. there were also G-10's in his staffle the 14th and in the IV. gruppe overall. E ♪
