Jam remember where your German sniper is going to be hiding and he would use the utmost of his surroundings as his provisions required. belt or a net on the helmet covered in the terrains brush; winter a splotched white on grey helmet or white camo helmet cover as Berlin in spring of 45 he may have had a large tarpin covering in building stone dust to hide effectively in the ruins of the city.

Simplest way of a sniper camo was a splinter camo dress with a burlap covered helmet and a mask made of cloth or burlap and wearing cloves. The rifle was mantled with burlap too.

To show the difference! The eagles head turned right was for Nazi Party and Wehrmacht, the eagles head turned left was for Police, Customs, Railway personnel, Fire Police and Post. In the later years of war the eagle head for the Wehrmacht turned to left too!

Good Advice on the stone dust, Erich! They used ( and believe are using it at time) a grey military blanket, lightly soaked with water, covered with dust of bricks and concrete, adding some broken stones (today easy to make out of painted polystyrene) and layed between ruines of houses. Normaly not higher than 1st floor. If they wanted to use the hideout more than one time ( which wasn´t very healthy) they used a camouflaged wet piece of cloth in front of the rifles muzzle to prevent the dust from coming up by the muzzle blast. Such simple mistakes can give the snipers position away. Sometimes they´ve worn such blankets as a cape too.

The other badges on the right arm are for the distruction of a tank. This was an award given to individuals of the Wehrmacht who destroyed an enemy tank single-handedly by an hand-held weapon.

can't tell Kai is that the simple but almost worthless 41 scope mount applied ? note the cheap simplistic tunic without breast pockets, maybe late war.

Yep Erich, that is the bad excuse for a sniper scope!
