German WWII peaked service Cap

    The peaked service cap, Schirmmutze, for all enlisted ranks. This example retains the “Tellerform” or “saucer” shape, and is piped in the white Waffenfarbe identifying the Infantry branch of service.

    The interior of this cap exhibits the proper matching peak, lining and sweatband. The underside of the sweatband is stamped “5/ LR.116”, for 5th Company, 116th Infantry Regiment. Note that the top (rear) portion of the sweat-shield is missing in this case; with use the brittle material could crack along the lines of stitch holes.
