Wow a few beauties there. Many were apparently taken near Rovaniemi (Polar Circle ) .I alos like the Nürnberg battleship and the picture of the dentist.

    Very interesting ideed!
    The landscape looks familiar!
A few years ago I visited the restored "Sturmbockstellungen" a few miles south of Karesuvanto.

Nice job they have done there. Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera with me then, but I have planned to go back, hopefully this summer!

Meanwhile, here are some pics taken by one of my fellow countrymen on another forum:

There was also a JG 5 Luftwaffe memorial a few miles north of Torneo.

Are there other WWII memorial sites you would recommend, perhaps in southern Finland?
I will be visiting Tampere in the fall.

    Regards
    RAM

    Great pics Kai! Thanks!
I especially like the look on the soldiers face, in the 5th pic, he looks a little befuddled as they all laugh around him. Happy moments in a sad time.

Hi Scott, I don't know if you know that soldiers name or not but if not, here it tis.

The soldier in pic Nr.5 is Gen der Gebirgstruppen Eduard Dietl. A nickname for him is 'ol leather face. ;-))

Also, one of the other Generals in one of the few pics that opened for me was General Falkenhorst.

    Best regards-Carl.
