Here is one of the first original photographs of the German invasion of Denmark. It was taken in Copenhagen at the actual time as the Nazi occupation, and shows Danish officers talking with a German officer. All the parties concerned seem to regard the matter with distaste. At an important crossroad in Copenhagen (above) crowds collect in helpless silence to watch the German troops, who have piled their rifles, machine guns and other equipment on the pavement. The anti-tank gun (below) is protecting a German motorised division advancing into Denmark.
