Graves Registration books!

Does anybody know any books that specify on graves registration taking memoirs and multiple personal accounts?

The University of Tennessee has: The Charles D. Butte Collection, 1921-2003 (bulk 1940-1948), consists of diaries, memoirs, and histories of the 603rd Quartermaster Graves Registration Company (QM GR CO) that served during and after World War II. This collection extensively covers the activity of the QM GR CO, and the diaries give insight to the experiences shared by its members. The collection also includes several compact discs and a floppy disk that contain electronic copies of the printed information. (You would have to request copies, I think.) MS 2587: Charles D. The American Overseas Memorial Day Association of Belgium, 1923-2003:
80 Years of Honoring America's Fallen from the Two World Wars American Overseas Memorial Day Association - Belgium (Elements may be of interest, especially chapters 9 & 10).

There's an ebook for sale at Lulu.com with the title The High Price of Freedom: The American Graves Registration Command in Europe After World War II. It describes the work of AGRC in Europe during 1947-1950, when it was under the command of Brigadier General Howard L. Peckham.

 

I can also recommend highly Final Disposition of World War II Dead, 1945-1951 for a comprehensive account of the work of the American Graves Registration Command. The ebook I mentioned in my previous post, The High Price of Freedom, contains several quotes from that book. In addition, the ebook provides a very personal insider's view of the people who worked for the AGRC, especially of its commander, who was at that time a brigadier general named Howard L. Peckham. (He later retired as a major general.)
