Ok, so its not a book, but is a great author, if you have not tried anything by Anthony Beevor you have not read anything decen on WW II, three must reads are Stalingrad, Berlin and Paris (Paris is just post war!) Check out the reviews! Amazon.com: Stalingrad: The Fateful Siege: 1942-1943: Books: Antony Beevor
I have heard of this person but have never read any of the books. I will have to check out the reviews and you have listed and then see what I can get at the local library.
Agree tel, Beevor is a great author, i have two books of his, "The Fall of Berlin 1945 and Stalingrad" and good books indeed but found it hard to get into "Stalingrad" in the early pages.. :thumb:
I have heard of him but never read any of his work. I am going to check around and see if I can find some of the titles everyone suggested. Does anyone have a top favorite by this author?
Beevor's Stalingrad for me, almost perfect. Also Beevor's translation of Vasily Grossman's exploits with the Red Army, 1941-45, excellent, but don't buy it from Amazon ! Amazon.com: A Writer at War: Vasily Grossman with the Red Army: Books: Vasily Grossman,Antony Beevor,Luba Vinogradova
Looks like a great book and has wonderful reviews. Thanks for the suggestion Dave I am going to look for it at my local library and check it out.:thumb:
