If anyone is interested, this October I am running a Guadalcanal 80th anniversary expedition to the WW2 heritage-rich Solomon Islands. 27-day, 14-day, and 10-day expedition options available. We will be on Guadalcanal for some major 80th anniversaries, notably, the Medal of Honor actions of John Basilone and Mitchell Paige.

Destinations: Guadalcanal, ALL significant WW2 sites in the Solomon Islands, WW2 sites and R&R in Fiji, plus optional extension to Kiribati for exploration of WW2 sites on Tarawa Atoll.

34 Medals of Honor were awarded for the campaigns in the Solomon Islands. Throughout the course of the expedition we will be visiting sites associated with the Medal of Honor. I am the only tour operator that gets to all of the land Medal of Honor action sites in the Solomons! This is something I take a great deal of pride in, and have done considerable work and research to make happen as many of the locations are difficult to get to. Additionally, the runways where Medal of Honor missions took off from and the airfields where these famous aviators operated from, as well as, the waters between Guadalcanal and Savo Island where naval actions took place that resulted in the awarding of five Medals of Honor.

The Solomon Islands recently announced their international border reopening and a return to welcoming tourists, as a result, we are moving forward with the expedition to coincide with the 80th anniversary.

I invite you to watch the expedition “teaser” video. Please watch with the sound turned on.

I have traveled to these locales many times. If this post has piqued your interest and you are interested in participating and you would like to know more, please reach me at: expeditions@war-historian.com
