My introduction heading was ingenius, I know I would just like to say I hail from Australia and am looking forward into finding out more about both my late grandfathers roles in the war. I know a little about my pops brother who was a pilot and got shot down and to be honest I know alot of him, but I have practically no knowledge of my actual grandfathers role, only that my mums father died before I was born and was near the front (Japanese front I think, then again I might be wrong) and I was never really close to my dads father (who, as I hear, wasnt near the imediate danger). So hopefully on here I would be able to get more information (if any) on them and also help on where to start (for those of you who have searched your own family) I have had a love for history since year 7 (13) and have become closer to War War II with the help of my dad, who happens to also be interested in WWI and WWII. Now, I think i have rattled on enough. I doubt you would get many girls on here, but I'm one, so thats a start lol and Im still not sure what/where everything is, but I'm very good with the internet and forums so it shouldn't take me too long. Any help would be much appreciated.
Hello Dingo, Welcome on board and concerning ladies on the forum I can tell you there are quite a few. Just a few examples: recently Leslie (Zwingli ) registered and Otto's number one is Trouble, so you have done the right thing. I would be interested in hearing the WWII stories of your family and I'm sure there are plenty of people willing to help you with your research.
Welcome to the forum icedingo. Skipper is right, there are a few women on this board and these fellows are real gents. Hope you enjoy, just make sure you post under the right headings as I didn't and heard about it. The fellows here are very helpful and have a tremendous amount of knowledge and research materials at hand. Good Luck Leslie Zwingli
Welcome Icedingo! This is really a great place to learn and just discuss what you know so have at it.
Hi Icedingo, I am a woman to and i only joined last week. Everybody on here has been really great and very helpful. Enjoy your stay cause i know i am.
Za only says that because uncle Jo told him. you can check by yourself by having a look at the rogues galery.
Howdy Dingo. It's them Portagees you gotta really watch out for. Well actually just one, as we only have the one, that I know of.
Welcome to this fine site. Also, as Jeff said, you need to be aware of the problem children who hail from Portugal. He's jealous because the State of Texas is much bigger than his homeland ;-D
Please bear in mind that I said nothing about the Texans having attractive features, far from it. To use an old, well worn (American) football cheer in reference to the resident Texans. U - G - L - Y You ain't got no alibi, You ugly, hey, hey you ugly.
Jeff's just jealous because Texas, is the only State, that was a COUNTRY. Also, we can still proudly fly the Confederate Battle Flag, we have more oil, Gene Autry, Audie Murphy and Jeff Chandler, were all born here; and more Texan Women were crowned Miss America. :-D
Gladly, we'll send in my Grandnieces Girl Scout Troop (all three of them) armed with water guns. It should take only a few seconds to over-power any resistance in Portugal. Heck, most of their population are most likely "gone-fishing or, watching their future dinners being taunted in the Bull-fighting ring. ;-)) Their local favorite dish includes: Rocky-Mountain Oysters. And only the Portugese, are experten, at dining on those. :-D
