Hello from Indiana. My grandfather was a radio operator in the Philippines and Japan from 1942-1946. He served with the 5th Army Air Force HQ Company 49th Fighter Group. (Hope I put that together in the correct order) I’m in the process of putting together a collection of his medals, awards, etc. for display. I’ve sent a request for DD-214 records. I’m looking for some help to identify this pin. Anything helps, this is my first attempt at retracing his steps. Thanks!

It looks to be a WW II USAAF "Sweetheart Pin", which were produced by jewelers for Air Force personnel to give to their wives and/or girlfriends. There is a huge array of types since pretty much every jeweler in the country produced an assortment of them. If there is a hallmark on them a good antique dealer might be able to track down the maker...but I doubt it.

Thanks RichTO90! Makes perfect sense since I can’t find anything quite like it.
