Hello, I am trying to find my Dads ww2 army record, I only know that during the war he was a driver and was stationed in North Africa. His name is Herbert Wilson 1916-1984, born Sheffield England. I checked the forces-war-records website but I wasn't 100% sure if I found the correct person as there are several people with the same name and none show a date of birth. There are so many websites holding records but which is the best website to get all the info? or do I need to join more than one to get everything? Thanks

Someone who can help will likely be along shortly but in the mean time you may also want to post your request over on our sister site ww2talk. It's more UK oriented. Good luck and PLS let us know what you find out.

The ONLY place you will get UK service records from is the MoD.
    See this link.
Get a copy of military service records
It will cost you 30 quid .
If your mother is still alive they will be free for her .
