    Hello,

I need help with a Naval phrase. While searching through a WW2 Seabee cruise book, I encountered the following phrase: "one of the whitest men to ever wear the Navy blues". I have no idea what this phrase means. It was used to describe the commanding officer of a Seabee battalion so I am certain it is complimentary.

(This is my first time posting on WW11F. Please excuse me if I have posted in the wrong forum. Nevertheless If you know the answer, please reply. Thanks!)

Was it printed in the Cruise Book or written in?

Thank you for your question. The phrase was printed in the cruise book. Here is the entire passage: Commended for his efficiency by his superior officers, and by consenus of the the battalion "one of the whitest men to ever wear Navy blues."

SeaBees are special, that's for sure.
