    Thanks, I sent a letter via email to see if I can get the IDPF for my uncle.

    On a side note and a twist of fate I believe I located my grandfather's dog tags, which hopefully has his ASN number still legible

    Maybe I can get some more info on him also

    I would suggest a follow up email in a couple weeks requesting confirmation that your request has been received. They will give you a confirmation number and likely tell you it will take up to 48 weeks to get the records to you. I requested one last July and should be hearing something in the next couple of weeks. Like I said, one needs patience.

    Found out my grandpa was part of the Anti tank Company, 313th infantry regiment, 79th infantry division

    Getting closure to learning more

    Already got a response on the IDPF request, they have an online status checker, got the Conf # etc...

    hope it comes sooner than the quoted 48 weeks though..which i doubt

    ok, got my Grandpas ASN off his dogtags, but nothing comes up in the search, any way to find his info you guys might know of? Appreciate all the help # below

    Something to research further:
    The 313th was credited with 5 campaigns, but your grandfather only has four. Is there any way you can determine when he was wounded and which campaign he missed?
