Hello folks, First time here so bear with me if I am not familiar with the forum etiquette My grandmother passed away a few years ago and I recently found a picture in her belongings of whom I think might be my grandad. I never knew him, but I knew he excisted. According to my grandmother he was British and from Liverpool and served as a soldier in Hamburg, Germany in 1952. My mother was born in -53. I guess he would be part of the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR). But unfortunately, thats all she ever said on the topic. So, my question is this. Could this possibly be a British army uniform? I know the picture is really bad, but it's all I got at the moment. Thank you for your time and help! /Chris
Really? Oh, that just turns things upside down........Then I really have no idea who this could be Anyway, thanks a lot! If you have any more info about this type of uniform I would be grateful.
bit of background info here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wehrmacht_uniforms could it be another relative of yours?
According to Owen's link, this looks to be an M40 tunic. That means this was not taken in 1952, I think. I can't read the collar tabs, so it's hard to know what unit he was in. There don't seem to be any other clues that I can see
