Hi I’m georgia my father served in World War II. I’ve recently went to a few places he served in Europe except France where we were warned please don’t ever go there...not sure why. But I’m honoring that request. This looked like a good site to do research about his service. He passed away when I was 6. So all I have are his discharge papers and I figured that is a good place to start. Thanks for all the info just reading the threads I have learned a lot.
Welcome. We do a fair amount of helping with family history here. We need any information you can share.
Hi Georgia. We'd be happy to help. As Opana said, post whatever information you have and we'll try to do what we can. Also it would be great if you could post pictures of your trip.
Here is info about my dad.. his total service was 21 years but I think what I’m sharing is just his WW II that is listed here. Battles and campaigns- Normandy;northern France; Rhineland; air offensive Europe. Decorations: EAME theater ribbon w/4 bronze stars per WD GO #33/45; American Defense service medal; good conduct ribbon per GO #8 hqs 409th bomb GP/44.
Thanks for that. It would be helpful if you could upload pictures of his discharge documents. There is a great deal of information to be gleaned from them. I don't know if you've seen this site, but there seems to be plenty of information about the 641st.641st Bomb Squadron | American Air Museum in Britain I also found his name here http://www.deridderarmyairbase.com/images/641stBombSqdnHx1996p138to151.pdf
