    Hello all,

I was wondering if someone might have some information on the item below. I purchased these at a flea market when I was in Moscow in 1994.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I also have the following plates. No idea on background or value. They are all 9 inch dinner plates.

Again any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

My Opa (grandfather) was on the US side in WWII. I do not really know the specifics of his service record, but I was hoping to have some memorabilia identified. I'll post some pictures of the first one that I have. I genuinely do not know much more than I have posted here. I will ask my father and try to find out more of the history. I'll have more pictures of different pins and things later.

The German badge is what is known as a Tinnie-or Day badge. These were ususally made out of plastic, pressed cardboard, cheap metals, wood, glass etc. These also usually had safety pin type pins to attach to your shirt etc.

I don't know what the Russian cross is but suspect it is somekiind of a Long-Service Cross-similar to the Imperial German ones. On ahd, from the looks of your cross, it too looks Imperial.

    Also, nice Army Messhall dinnerware.

Your Tinnie is for the WHW (Winterhilfswerk or Winter Relief) 'Tag der Polizei' 1942. There were 3 in the set...most people confuse them for NSKOV tinnies.

    No fantasy item here....;)

The ring has the christian symbol of a dove, the dove represents the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost, while this was in your Opa's stuff this may have been a after war pick up from a church or something he picked up overseas. Did he serve in Europe, especially Italy? Its not military but still something nice to have from your grandfather.

My Opa served mainly in New Jersey. He did some sort of training at a base there. I genuinely do not know much of his service. I am taking some pictures of the other memorabilia and will post them soon. I am curious to see what the rest of it means. Thanks for the replies so far!

The pictures come out a bit fuzzy for me so no way to tell EXACTLY but, IMO-it looks good based on what few details I can make out. At least you can be rest assurred that the ribbon IS an original ribbon ;-))

Frame's uneven,it's very lopsided. Coil on the reverse of the frame where the suspension ring is connected is bent/curved,ribbon ring is overly thick too. If you could post better pics a better summation could be made:). Stewy

Ok. I am sorry this took so long to get posted. My brother took the pictures with his Nikon and wanted to make sure they were color corrected and perfect.
