The older son sent me this link earlier today. I'd seen a good bit of the footage before, but a good deal of new, bayonets eye view. Well worth a watch, narrated by Norman Hatch the combat cameraman that took it.

Great footage, Bob. I never served, but the bravery of these men is undeniable. I haven't seen much in the way of film so this was a real eye-opener. Most of my knowledge comes from reading, but it can't convey what film does. I have read numerous accounts of the invasion of Tarawa, including Tarawa Beachhead, but this puts a whole new spin on it. Thanks for posting it.

The Cameraman Mr. Hatch was lucky to come away unscathed, the first wave at Tarawa did not have a good time........
