Hello, My name is CPT Robert Francis. I am currently an Armor Officer in the U.S. Army, born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii. I joined this forum to find out more information on my grandfather who served in the 442nd RCT (100th Bat). My current interests are of course anything that has to do with Tanks. Hopefully I can find out more about my military heritage while here, thanks again for having me.
Hi Robert. Glad you could join us. The more information you can give us will aid us in helping you. We can start with his name. DO you have access to his discharge documents? The 442nd certainly was heroic in its actions.
Yes I do, I didn't want to post them here because I thought it was for introductions only. I do have a lot of his service record and am requesting a DD214 from the national archives. The two things I am trying to do are: Trace his actual company's movement through the theatre, creating a timeline of battles/missions. And find any photos of him in theatre. If you would like I can post those records here, I can see the campaign credits but matching his company to specific battles or actions within battles is harder for me to figure out.
Welcome to the Forums, Robert. This might be the better place for posts regarding your research: Military Service Records and Genealogical Research
Welcome aboard. Sometimes people post such data and request here sometimes one of the other sub forums. The mods aren't real picky on that sort of thing and if they think it's better off somewhere else or you wanted moved they will often move it to the appropriate place. This is the best board I've seen for this sort of activity by the way. Lots of knowledgeable people with a desire to help. All in all I think you'll find it a very friendly and helpful place.
