As topic, does anyone know if George Wilson 'If you survive' is still alive?

Just finished his: If You Survive: From Normandy to the Battle of the Bulge to the End of World War II

Really enjoyed it - would just like to know more about his post war life and whether he's still around or when he died and where.

    Thanks
    Simon

That and "With the Old Breed at Pelieu and Okinawa" by E. B. Sledge are the two best memoirs of WWII that I've ever read. I recommend them highly.

I agree that's one o the best books I've read on the subject. "If you Survive" was also a great read and I highly recommend both to anyone wanting to learn more about the European and Pacific campaigns.

The author of If You Survive, George D. Wilson, passed away Mar. 27, 2005.

I was saddened to learn of his death. After reading his book I hoped he was alive and had written other books. He had such a natural style of writing he could have been successful novelist. Had he written of his career in vacuum cleaner sales I probably would have enjoyed it. The world is diminished without this humble hero.
