"And then, a phenomenon that is new to many. Under the strains of trench warfare, the nerves collapse. These people are called the Tremblers of War."

i dont think i admire war so much...its the warriors i admire ,especially those who threw themselves once more into the breech ,day in and day out even when they knew in their own hearts that the law of averages was breathing a cold breath down their necks a little more every new dawn.. .a letter from his sweetheart to a us p47 jabo pilot......darling... you never talk about your ( fun loveing, crazy ) best freind , red , anymore... why ...is he no longer in the squadron ..are you guys not still buddies.? and what of tex and snuffy smith you havent mentioned them for many weeks, either , now that i think of it ...have they all been transfered ? did they run off with their horrid french girlfreinds? your letters arent nearly as funny without the weekly tales of all their misadventures....are you being really careful like you promissed me darling ..i really really miss you, are you ok..? you seem a little despondent ..i wish i was there to cheer you up ..in person...

No one who studies war could admire it; we know the cost too well. Or, I should say, we know the cost as well as anyone can who has never been in one.
