TWO LETTERS FROM FRANCE -- What a difference a month makes! When you read these two letters written by my great-uncle Robert Burns Florence in 1916, you will notice the dramatic change between a young man shortly after arriving in France, and the same young man just one month after doing battle at The Somme. To read both letters, click on the Wartime Wednesdays link.

Another great article, Elinor. Scary to think what these young men went through. If you haven't already, I recommend that you read The Remains of Company D, to get the American view of these massacres. Whenever I think about (WW2 also) I get a shiver. I'm not sure if I could go through it.
