I'm sure we've mentioned it on the Forum before, but I thought ( after my own recent relic-hunt at Falaise ) that I'd re-post a link to the web's finest relic site : - Page Title I always enjoy browsing this site. I know that 'dug-ups' can be controversial and many have mixed views - I have to admit that finding a few exploded 7.92 cases in a field and a piece of German boot-sole in a riverbed recently gave me a real thrill.... Uusual disclaimer - if you must go rummaging around on battlefields, use your common sense and don't touch anything that looks as though it may explode....
Nothing wrong with mentioning Lerenfort loads of times! I still reckon it's one of the Internet's most interesting military related sites. Cheers, Adam.
An excellent website Martin, thank you for sharing. Can anybody elaborate on the 'Big Hole' that is mentioned on the site ?
Can anyone tell me where the "Big Hole" mentioned on Lerenfort is located, im heading to Europe to go battlefield searching and i would like to go there, if anyone knows please contact me. Regards, Darrin (aka Totenkopf{GD})
I'm glad this thread came up again......I just love that relic site ; I could sit and drool over the 'finds' for ages and ages......
I love the site and pictures, but where is it, if anyone can provide information on its whereabouts email me at iloveww2@yahoo.com or send me a private message. Thank you. Regards, Darrin (aka Totenkopf{GD}
Hi Darrin, I doubt anybody will tell you their secret places. It's like a gold digger telling others where to find his potential gold. The best would be to come over and try your luck. Remember that you mostly need permission from the owner/authorities. If you go to former battlefieds you might soon find your own "big hole" . Wishing you luck with your quest.
any suggestions where i might begin a search, i have to book a flight soon but i dont have any idea of where to start Regards, Darrin (aka Totenkopf{GD} thank you
I ran across this thread and saw that you linked to a site, however the link is no longer available. Is the site gone? Moved? If you know please pass along, would love to see what you gentleman were discussing. Thanks
You're welcome. There are some amazing photos on the website of relics found in the 'Big Hole'. I hope to get over there myself one day and do some digging of my own.
i always enjoy seeing the updates on that site, some pretty amazing stuff still being found to this day John if you ever go to the big hole .....bring me with you! .....i'll do most of the digging!
That's a deal, Andy. Be prepared for a long dig, Andy as most of the relics are buried 8ft or more down !!! I think a JCB would be a better option than a shovel.
ah i don't mind John, i've had to dig many holes in the past ......but none of them had the prospect of finding a german helmet at the bottom!
Good point, Andy. I'm hoping some good relics will be unearthed during our trip to germany, later this year.
