    Is that a shaped charge?..I wonder if the mine would kill the layer...Why 3 prongs and not 1 or 4 ?

    Yep. Read through it and it is evident that it was a suicide attack.

    Weren't a version of this to be used by 'Frogmen' against landing craft during the invasion of the home island? and then there was this I found:

    The page makes for a very good read.....any doubts left as to why The Bombs were dropped?

    You should post this on the "Did the Japanese Deserve the bomb" thread over at the talk. It gets resurrected from time to time, and this would be a good item for the pro-bombers argument.
