Errrr....small confession....I know more about medieval history than WW2.....sorry chaps.......talk to me about trebouches, longbows and zweihanders, thats the kind of warfare that I know about!

I am having great fun on this forum though, and I am learning plenty!

Well I do admit to owning a chain mail hauberk and coif, shield, great helm and a few swords...does that make me a medieval nut too? :D

    Um... I'm a moderator!

Ok, I'm going to ask for a halt in this topic now, and humbly request that Sir Grieg posts his picture somewhere appropriate (non-WW2 history, or re-enactment)

Apologies to everybody for letting my interests get in the way of my job...

    How about here? :D

Grieg, having all that gear either makes you a Medieval History nut or a LARPer... I'm sure which of these I'd rather be. ;)

    Well done that man!!!!

We don't have any LARPers on here do we? Please say no as the ones I have met tend to be a little strange......important note....the ones I have met....I haven't met all of them, so I can't comment on the whole lot!

    Oh dear...

    But anyway,

We have regular War or the Roses re-enactments in Dunstable (for the yearly history week) and it is fun chatting to the guys (and girls) whose idea of fun is to whack each other with swords, axes and bills.
Especially when they explain wht they call that guy there 'Mr Rib' ('cos h couldn't afford a brestplate and got broken ribs inflicted on 3 occaisions before finally buying one), or when they discuss their annual 'recreated battles' with French societies... ;)

oops..responded in the wrong thread..this belongs here

Since this in the appropriate thread I will respond here as per request for photos of myself in medieval regalia. I am presently remodelling my house and contemplating making a proper mannequin figure to hold the items (which are now scattered hither and yon..and mixed in with my son's helmet collection) and stand guard in my then completed study. I will try and post a photo when it's done.

Actually I don't put it on and dash about cutting the air and snarling at Saracens and such (though I would if I had the time to devote to the SCA so that I could take out my repressed hostilities on actual people) :D

I actually began purchasing such things for my two son's various collections of all things martial not merely medieval (WW II helmets and a K-98k for example).
