Very cool, I'll look out for it. Dont worry about IS, those dirtbags don't go after those able to put up any sort of a defense.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ts1-3JqrG4A&feature=youtu.be&t=39 Take a look at 39 seconds in. I really feel the need to mention there is no such thing as a chop in judo, it's an all-grappling combat sport.
Here's that bit about Rousey and her proud admission of DV. Washington Post Cindy Boren https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2015/11/11/when-it-comes-to-ronda-rousey-is-there-a-domestic-violence-double-standard/ Reddit has been tearing her a new one lately.
UFC #200 So after all the hype- Jon Jones is disqualified for a drug test. Cormier constantly ripped into Jones about what type of guy he was and the crowd he hung with. It got tiring to hear, but looks like Cormier wass right about Jones as a person. Stunned, when heard Jones was not goin to be on the July 9 2016 card. Not a fan of Dana White. Would not doubt -they felt the entire card (and the payouts promised) would not bring in the money they felt it should...get people to buy ufc 200, then find a problem with a guy who gave them problems (JJ), and take him out...The old bait and switch. Let's see if the "2 year ban" lasts longer than a few months. JJ is a cash cow, DW will milk it.
Pffft. Crooked in my books. Oh look. UFC was just sold. ..Bait and switch. They knew the sale was coming yet they still promoted the Jones fight. http://money.cnn.com/2016/07/11/news/companies/ufc-sold/index.html
I'm not sure it was that nefarious. Brock Lesnar was the golden goose of UFC 200, not Jones. Yes, he would have helped, but it was always what Brock could bring in. He made over $12 million, that means the UFC made several times that amount off him alone. Sources say Jones got popped for estrogen blockers (used to recover after a cycle of steroids), and they rushed to get the news out. The unexpected thing here is that when a major star gets pulled for a PED (Performance Enhancing Drugs) violation, more people become aware of that event and will watch. The drug testing system put in place is now extremely rigorous, USADA is what will clean up the sport and it needs to be done. Having competed in MMA myself, I've seen that PED use is rampant. Unlike track & field, basketball, or shot put, where PEDs will make you simply perform better, MMA creates a situation where a doped up monsters is physically beating up another human. Imagine the scandal if a fighter got seriously injured in a bout, and it later came out that the winner was on PEDs. PEDs are cheating in any sport, but they are potentially lethal in combat sports.
No ring names or monikers. MMA isn't "pro" wrestling, it's a regulated combat sport like boxing, so you compete under your given name.
If by "Administrator" you mean "Vengeful Overlord*" then I accept that title. *all credit to Belasar who first brought that ohrase to my attention.
Id think the Jones/ Cormier fight would have been much more entertaining...Mark Hunt is too long in the tooth and not in very good condition. Boring fight. Comier/Silva - boring. The whole card sounded good on paper. Reality was- the #200 event didn't live up to the hype. 9/10 women's fights are about as entertaining as paint drying...Try an experiment- have an all women's fight card. See how many buy tickets (at same price as mens card). Still calling shenanigans. Maybe Otto could comment on how Dana White and the UFC are perceived by the fighters...I'd read a lot of guys really hate DW. Vengeful overlord is good. There was a guy playing pro football who had "He Hate Me" on his Jersey, so yeah.
Jones/Cormier would definitely have been the best fight on that card. Brock was rusty and has been out for 5 years, but make no mistake, he was the top draw by far. Lesnar brings a huge swathe of "pro" wrestling fans with him. The UFC were interested in selling and increasing that sale price meant bringing out their biggest gun; Brock Lesnar. I like women's fights, but thats me. No way to predict if a fight card will be good or not. In boxing its all about the main event, ususlly people dint even know who's fighting other than the two main boxers. At least in MMA you will have 5 or so fights to choose from. Dana is has a hard reputation with fighters, but so does every promoter in the game. Any form of prize fighting is called the "hurt business" for what goes on outside the actual bouts, rather than the fights. As for the VO nickname, I prefer the title Peppy gave me years ago. "Otto" probably works best, most people think it's a nickname anyways.
Just watched the 3 part Ali series on espn. Great work, that...There was a good bit about how some guys would intimidate other camps, and make them take a fall. Can't remember- this one guy had just won through intimidation, and he tried the same tactic on (forget who now)'s team...That team sent some real thugs out and beat the guy to an inch. When he recovered he went directly to a mental hospital and never promoted again. So yeah, fighting has never really had clean hands. George Chuvalo had some good comments. If an event were in Colorado, would pot be acceptable for a fighter to have in his system? Think the Diazs' are total jerks (entertaining though). But for Nick(?) to have been dq'd after that amazing fight (Bellator?) because of a positive- was a shame.
