I was reading last night in my encyclopedia "War in Peace" about the Multi National Force (MNF). It talked about the Italian,British,French and American forces that were landed and were out patrolling. It also talks about the carbombs that hit the US Marine barracks and French ?Para/Marine? barracks. I was wondering if anyone had an opion about this idea of the more powerful countries comming in after a war to help rebuild. even tho they left soon after if history wouldve been different if the MNF had stayed. Also I want to know your opions on the subject I would like to learn more about it.

Not a bad idea, perhaps, but the execution left something to be desired. I can understand wanting to help the Lebanese people and try to bring stability to the area, but such an endeavor needs to be planned very carefully. Another requirement, IMHO, is that you do NOT saddle your troops with a bunch of Rules of Engagement, which do nothing but aid those whom you're fighting.
