    Conga-rats Stefan.

Do y'all have to give money to the first enlisted to salute you after your commisioning?

Don't worry TA, I don't look enough like an officer for snipers to bother with, looking forward to the estate part though. Slip, I'm afraid we don't have that tradition here but the money would go to the signals Sgt who was part of our training team, he was a fantastic bloke (just the type of Sgt every new officer prays to get) and saluted me as I left, said it was because I had bought him a pint the night before.

A pic from the parade earlier today, with my (younger) brother in front of one of the cannon captured at Waterloo:

Cheers Za, I was saying to my Plt Commander that I've been aiming to commission for 9 years now, my new objective is to make it to Afganistan or Iraq by 2009.

Za, probably the allies, I think I'd stand out in the crowd too much to be a terrorist.

Cheers Kerem, I've still got to get hold of my pip, don't get it until I return to my unit on Tuesday.

I believe in development by the US and Israel.
Many hurdles to overcome, seemingly particularly on mobility and power supply but interesting nonetheless.
Don't know where the project went from there (2004) so I suppose it could be in the bin by now.
Seems to be a Boeing airborne variant of the same concept:
