    Hey all

I am playing germany doing the '36 campaign

Invaded both Netherlands and Belgium, occpuiped all the proviences in the Netherlands yet it wont let me annex it or even gives any form of notice that they are out of the war. Annex is greyed out-says I still need to occupy some of thier provences. Im confused. How do I find out what provencies a nation has left and is there an easy way to find out what it takes to force a nation to surrender or allow me to annex them

    thanks

Netherlands and Belgium have key provinces in Africa and Asia I believe.

Thats what I was afraid of...

is there anyway to know what ALL of the key provinces for each nation is. Makes it kinda tough to plan out an invasion stragety when you dont know what it will take to win=)

On the map near bottom left of screen is an icon...2nd from the right perhaps. It shows KEY Provinces (highlights them in RED) showing what you need to control before you can annex a country.

Yup yup yup. Dont worry about it too much, you cant deploy stuff there as I recall but you dont really need to. you can alwasy deploy the Garrison units next to them and strat redeploy into them. Same with stinking British isles.

Wait a bit, "The Dutch capitulation" event should fire sooner or later, provided that you have played historically up till that point of the game (Anschluss, Munich, Slovakia, Molotov - Ribbentrop, Danzig).

Yeah....found the key victory button last night..amazing what happens when you look over things :)

Got the Dutch copitulation event. Happend after I entered the 2nd province. secured the lowlands in about 6 weeks. France moved a couple divisions into belgium and held me up.

Its March 1 40 and Im ready to move into France now-but I think Im a bit underpowered far....11 Armored(Med III), 11 Mech(Mech 1)-all with either Mobile ATI or Mobile Art II brigades and about 20 Infantry('39) backed up by 28 squadrons of interceptors(Int IV) and fghters(Ftr I) and 12 Tac bombers(Tac II).

A question on Partisans. I secured Poland in Sept 39 and stuck several divisions with police units on Partisan duty and the partisan level does not seem to be going down at all, but the partisan levels were pretty much gone in a couple of weeks when I overran denmark, and the lowlands..and ideas?

    Thanks!

When it comes to partisans and Germany your best friend will be the Garrison divisions. They can only strat deploy. I find that some nations subdue alot esier than others, France and Belgium are like sheep compared to Poland England and Russia. After a long time you will not need as much supression. try the Garisons out. Oh by the way why so many fighters/interceptors.

    ahh.makes sence...

I went ahead and scrapped that game I was running...gonna have to start up another one=) to may mistakes and just didnt know how things worked...still cant figure out how to do paradrops. Russia was just to big and I just didnt have the forces to try and tackle it....

Not sure why I went with so many fighters...think its becaise I wanted 4 fighters/interceptors in each area flying Air supperority. figured it was the best thing I could do to shut down britan and frances bomber fleets.

on hind site it was probley to much...alot of drain on my fuel reserves...

Just looked at the game I am in right now. (I was wrong on the fighters/interceptors)

    Sept 40
    Army
    80 Inf 16 Mot 16 Arm
    Air Force
    4 Escort 4 Fight 20 Int 2 Cas 10 Tac
    Base IC of 272

    June 43
    Army
    87 Inf 30 Mot 34 Mech 33 Arm 52 Gar
    Air Force
    4 Escort 18 Fight 20 Int 14 Cas 4 Strat 10 Tac 4 Nav 4 Trans
    Base IC of 323

It takes time to get used to the interface, and how things work. For the Para drop make sure that the paras and transport are in the same province and that you have >= transports to para div load um up and then select the planes and mouse over the target, must be in range and select airborne assault, not that you must have researched the tech that enables the para drop option.

You will also have to develop you stratagem and how you employ your forces.

I'm currently downloading HoI2 and I've got a question aswell.

I've seen that you can play with lots of nations, but I couldn't
find the Netherlands or the Dutch East Indies on any forum.

So, can you play with those countries (or atleast annex/attack/trade with them)?

You can play as ANY country that existed in 1936. The Dutch probably are not so fun to play, as they stand no chance against the German War Machine.

In the upcoming HOI3, it will be possible to play as a country-less Government (like Poland in WWII historically) so that might bring a few more of the Dutchies out of the woodwork.

Hope I'm not budging in on the thread, but what's the doctine that lets you use airborne assaults? I'm Nationalist Spain and I'm having a little trouble wiping out portugal.

Bit of an OLD thread to be digging up (last post was made in 2008) but I think in HOI 2 only Special Forces Doctrine lets you up the Airborne Assault. I assume you've modded the game to get Airborne troops as Nat. Spain?

Modded? Umm... No... does Doomsday have anything to do with being able to have airbornes as nat spain? And sorry, but the spec. forces doctine doesn't exist. Are we talking about Hearts of Iron 2 here?

In HOI 2, I am pretty sure it is in with the air doctrines, something like, 'assualt doctrine', or 'air supply', when you select the tech it should say something like, 'allows air supply', this leads the paratroopers.

Its been a long time since I played HOI 2 (onto HOI 3 Semper Fi now) and was basing my guess off of the current Technologies tab, where 'Special Forces Doctrine' increases the effectiveness of all Special Forces troops (Para, Mtn, Marines, etc).

Nat. Spain, if I recall, doesn't have much going for it at all during the game (severe man power issues etc) which is why I was wondering if you edited the save-game to make it more 'playable'. Paratroopers are a pretty specialized branch so if you have the IC + Research to spare, you are either really late in the game or had to mod the save game file to get to that point.

Late in the game, around 1950, actually. And I'll check, but I don't think there's an air doctrine like that. So confusing.
