My grandfather, Roger Woodward, and his brother Leeman, worked for John R. Thompson Company, a restaurant chain, before being drafted. This two page article on them was from the company's magazine, What's Cookin', in the September 1945 issue. They show an illustration of my grandfather's drawing prowess, since he would make custom cards to send home in the vmail they had to use. The article talks about how Roger would do these cards for others in exchange for goods. They mention my great-uncle and his training as a mechanic before being posted to Camp White in Oregon, where he would meet and marry his wife. My aunt found this while cleaning house and sent it to my mother, who got it yesterday. I don't know who the other man is , on the second page. There are other tidbits I'll scan and send later.
