Heh heh, guess I didn't beat you to the first cup of coffee yesterday? ;-D Seriously though-you have a nicce and growing collection. Oh and, I almost forgot. I should be able to get those KM boards out within the next few weeks. I'll be in Houston before then and will get things together and ready to send. ;-))
Sweet am looking forward to them, they will have a good home here But am running out of space in my small display cabinet, which is still the ex-wife's so lets hope she dont remember lol. Once I get them I will make sure to add them to this thread. Cheers Herr
Hi Herr, that will be great and will look forward to seeing you post them. I wish I had a KM beltbuckle for you-but never bought one. Do you think Rob might part with his? ;-)) And we already know the answer to that question don't we? ;-D Oh and, i'm going to add something extra to what i'm sending as I think you will enjoy them more than I can.
You know Rob to well However he is keeping his feelers out there and is bugging Angolia for one. Am still waiting to see if I can get one at decent price, the gold one that is. Many have been de-nazified, or alot of gilding gone etc, I just want a mint one, so that I never have to upgrade or look for one again Thanks C., get to H. allready Cheers Herr
Hi Herr, heh heh, I already tried to talk him out of it-and his Reichsbahn buckles to boot. But apparently he got up a bit earlier in the morning than I did-cause he said-no ;-)) I had seen a site or two that had some KM buckles listed-don't remember how nice they looked but-I THINK they were on either John Casinos site-or even Jessens Relics site. I haven't had time to go look at them today to see, but Rob said that $200.00 was a good price for a nice KM buckle. Eeegads-but I thought that was high.
$200 for a golden minty KM buckle, if original, is a steal ! They easily go for $550-650. Find that site lol ! Not Jessens or Casinos, had a look and not there. cheers Herr
Hi Herr, that's cool. Oh and thanks for checking those sites for me-I haven't had the time yet. I'm most sure I saw it in one of the Militaria links that I check from time-to-time-that are on the www.blackcrossmilitaria.com site ;-)) I'll try looking through there before the library closes today. PS, i'll be in Houston tailend of next week-so i'll start trying to get all your stuff in the mail-as well as booke for Erich, pics for Kai, and something for Skipper. Take care and best regards--Carl.
Little update Am hoping to trade my PAB and some cloth a dealer is interested in, for 22 KM career and specialty patches. If it happens i will have 44 patches all up. The dealers patches are all specialties I dont have yet. If it happens I will have career patches of : defensive ordnance - administration - teleprinter - torpedo artificer - aircraft spotter - engineer - driver - medic - carpenter - artillery mechanic - sailor career And specialty patches of gunner 2nd class - range finder 2nd class - underwater detection - motor engineer 1st class - AA gunner - AA gunner automatic - electrician Mind you, each career branch has at least all up 17 patches to collect, so still a long way to go. Cheers Herr
Heer I'd be interested in seeing your Flak AA patches when acquired. please note that some of the light AA patches were used to ID members in training, something I found out some years ago from a former KM member on a 8.8cm Batterie at Kiel. you have 3 actual classes so to speak. Light single/twin and four-barrel Fla on ships. heavier pieces like the 88 and 105's on board heavy Ships, and thirdly then you have to deal with heavy Flak onshore-like localized defensive Flak Batteries of ports and industrial centers down to KM naval now ground artillery units within a numbered Marine Infantrie Abteilung ~ latter war years. it gets confusing ..........
thanks for the extra info Erich ! Marine infanterie, would like to find out more about that, being relativly new in KM area but sticking in it. When I have the patches I will post. And the tallies, photo etc Cheers Herr
Heer there were 2 Marine Land-divisions. My friend Otto served in one of them at Oesel which our friend Kai knows about as it is off his beloved Finnland. Otto was a 8.8.cm, fire-control director in charge of taking on anything armored the Soiviets may put on the islands. The Field army grey uniform was worn as standard with the distinctive KM marine insignia which was not the same for the white/blue tunic and uni worn on ship E
My latest haul of a local gunshow. Done some trading with dealer (traded medical pouch, ammo pouch, PAB, and some cloth) to get many of these, and also bought some seperatly. Enjoy Will elaborate on them if anyone interested. Regards Herr
Latest incoming including but not pictured Spielmann insignia. NCO telegraphist winter tunic NCO scribe summer tunic NCO admnistration winter tunic NCO administration winter tunic and enlisted aircraft spotter career insignia for summer tunic Cheers Herr
hi skipper The Kriegsmarine had 2 NCO ranks; junior and senior NCO. Junior NCO specialty patch had just the insignia, while senior had the extra chevron to it. The 2nd of left of my pic is junior NCO admin, the third from left is senior NCO admin as it has the added chevron underneath it. Sorry forgot to add senior to description which is odd for me to forget. So for every career there are 6 NCO patches to collect, junior and senior NCO for summer and winter tunics aswell as the metal gilded versions (again junior and senior NCO) for the parade jacket. Hope that made sense lol, late here cheers Herr
and also for enlisted men insignia, say medical career, there are many to collect. You have the 2 seperate career insignia (for summer and winter tunic) which is like my aircraft spotter in previous post, a small round insignia. then you go into rank combined ones, meaning one piece cloth with career and chevron insignia on 1 piece of cloth which is like my medical ones posted here in this thread also. Three ranks to collect of these combined insignia, gefreiter, obergefreiter and hauptgefreiter. Add onto that for what tunic (summer, winter and parade) So that adds up to 9 of these to collect (3summer, 3 winter, 3 parade) In total, to have every career insignia of a branch, you are looking at 18 insignia ! 2 seperate little round ones (summer, winter) 9 combined ones (summer, winter, parade) 6 NCO ones (junior and senior for summer, winter and parade) Officer sleeve insignia (one on each sleeve above rank stripes, but one is enough for me) It all adds up quickly cheers Herr
Cheers herr, it perfectly makes sense now. As I was watching the pictures, I noticed those details and it got me curious.
