    Like the belt buckle, Ed.

Why did they stop you? A bit too lead-footed?

I stopped the car in a dead end road to take some pictures of the finds, i was just finished taking the pics and stuffed the finds back in the car, i stayed there a while longer to finish my sigarette.
End at that time they arrived, asking me why i was there.
Normaly there never stood a car and that was suspicious!

    Again Edwin, fantastic finds!
It amazes me that the shells you found were in such good condition! Were they in peat moss? I have heard that peat moss preserves things.

Many thanks for posting these pics, Aru-Ed ! To see your search 'step-by-step' is the next best thing to actually being there......:)

After 63 years i think they could still be fired!
These where found in the mud, no oxygen can get there, clay or mud are the best preservers.
But the best preserver is an airtight container!

Hey Edwin I was wondering Ya ever get kinda nervous picking up live ordinance out There? and lets say ya find an unexploded Mine or artillery round... Do ya notify The local police or military Explosive ordinance folks to remove or deactivate it? BTW love your pics Im envious of your adventures

Most of the times i'm searching i find live ammo, i only take pictures of it and then i burry them deep in the soil.
I do not search near roads but in the middle of the forrest, no one comes there so it is also quit difficult to notify the local police of the spot.
In second place, it is forbidden to search there and i do not want to get caught so i keep it quiet.
I'm only interested in personal items and gear and that is what i take with me!
And offcourse it gives me the creeps when i find an other granate or ammo!
And thanks for the compliment on my trips!

Some good cleaning work. I may repeat myself but that koppelschloss is just awesome, much better than if you buy one.
Hey Mortman, the best Indiana Jones feeling is when you enter in a dark tunnel , such as a hole in a bunker wall. that's a real thrill. Sometimes I don't expect to find one so I only have a camera flash , otherwise it's pitch dark in there.... You'd better not be claustrophobic in there

And i'm very happy with the beltbuckle, it is my first, and for 63 years in the dirt its a good one!
I never buy things, i collect only what i find myself, straight from the battlefield and 100% original with a story.

I do not know if the rounds are .30, i know they are US but i'm not in to the ammo.
The police questioned me because i parked at a dead-end road, they told me there never stops/stands a car, so it was suspicious.
Then they saw the detector in the back of the car, so they asked for a search and what i whas doing.

Yesterday i re-visited some old spots but i spend a half day because of the heat/weather.
Most of the findings where at the surface exept for the ammo and seal for the German MG-ammobox.
I could have left my detector at home!;)
I'm very pleased with the damaged lid of the German eatingcan, my first complete with handle.
Also still nice in the paint and on the bottom some markings, initials? (KM).
The handle has the code/marking CFL 39.
The ammo is back where it belongs, underneath the surface!
