I wanted to share my collection of WWII items. The following are my most prized possessions as they were my Grandfather's. My Grandfather's "Ike" Jacket. He was only in the 8th ID at the end of the war: Kar98K and bayonet: German flight helmet, not in the greatest condition: My Grandfather's bakers manual: Ammo bag: Camp Wheeler, GA. I haven't been able to place him here but he had a picture of the place: Desert Training: Thanksgiving Menu, Fort Riley: "The Bridge" (The story of the capture of the Ludendorff Bridge):
The following items I have picked up recently. Map of the 9th Armored's campaign in Europe: "The Army Cook" TM 10-405: NSDAP Armband: My most recent find, an Arisaka Type 99:
Great Stuff! Too bad the mum was removed off the Arisaka. I've heard those are quite rare intact. Nevertheless, you have a collection to be proud of! Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm just starting to collect and most of what I have is centered around what my grandfather left behind. My 2 goals are to collect anything associated with the 9th Armored Division and to own the infantry rifles of the Axis and Allies. If anyone comes across anything associated with the 9th Armored Division(including photos) please let me know. I have a difficult time finding those items and would be highly interested in most things.
